Let the big wooden spoon spanking start!

so since i am posting on this forum....you guys know what that means. went on another app spree from the last weekend of 2013 up til new years day. added 5 more new cc's making it 14 new accounts for me during the month of december. got instantly approved for the following cards:

Total Rewards - approved $2k but luv button brought it up to $5.2k. Comenity said no on siggy upgrade. will get usage on this since we stay at Harrah's when going to Lake Tahoe/Reno/Vegas.

Discover It - $6.5k

Alaska Air - approved $1k but called bofa backdoor to recon for higher limit...approved $5k and converted to siggy for the annual companion fare (will come handy for future trips) - haven't checked if this was another hp...forgot to ask.

Barclays Arrival WMC - $5k - now it's a waiting game as far as my fate with this lender. with 13 new accounts opened around the same time, i hope i can fly under the radar for the next 12 months.

Wells Fargo Rewards Card - $2k - shouldn't have applied for this. i really didn't need it...may end up closing it in 6 months. received pre-approval in the mail. i already had a whole bunch of inqs on all 3 cr's, so i said what the heck. when i banked with them, i was denied by them for cc because pretty much they said i wasn't putting as much $ in my account as they would like. so i figured, why get approved now especially i stopped banking with them 3 years ago. i guess the joke is on me because approved.

oh and was instantly approved with the cli for my Citi Diamond Preferred from $3K to $8K. now that i think about it, im kicking myself on this too because i could've just requested for the TYP for the cli. but it's ok...Diamond has bt offer of 0% for 18 months. if i end up using it, im thinking of transferring the limit to the TYP and closing the Diamond after bt offer. im sure this was another hp.

now...im just really hoping no AA from Barclays. i had forgotten how sensitive they are to inqs and new accounts until 2 days after apping for it. but AA or not...lesson learned that will surely keep me planted (no pun intended) within the confines of the GC. but of course, i really would love to be able to keep the Arrival card.

Ok, let's see I'm counting...1, 2, 3, 4, 5 accounts... ok, and a CLI and possibly Barclays getting jealous?  Hmmmm... Ok OP, I would say congrats are in order; however, now you have to pick your wooden spoons for the spankings to start.  I would pick the ones with gaps to lessen the blows...oh, sorry, there's only one, my bad!

Congrats nice haul

Spoons are out tho ........Lol

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

I would have to agree with myjourney and Lexie, for lasting effects, my spoons would do nothing... 4 point would be best!!!

Re: Let the big wooden spoon spanking start!

How could you forget how sensitive Barclays is!? It's like a commandment around here. Anyways, congratulations, 13 new accounts is a lot!
