Congrats on the Lowes card, enjoy your discount!
Considering how agressive Sync has been with closing accounts with high limits, I'd be wary of trying for 20 or 30k now unless you are actually making large purchases. No reason not to try for more with a $400 limit, though.
Congrat's on your approval and good luck with your growth @Anonymous !
Quick question to @Anonymous , @Anonymous , @Anonymous , @K-in-Boston :
I've been helping my Mom grow her credit profile, including her Lowes card. When I started in 2018 her CL was 3100. I was able to grow it quite easily to 17k--but it seems she's currently stuck there. She has a thick profile, all scores currently floating around 800. I hadn't requested an online increase for many months, but did so this past weekend and it was an instant decline.
Her DTI isn't an issue, but her utilization of the card has been nearly non-existent. Also, during the beginning of covid, she had a spike in her overall uti across all cards. However, it has now decreased to 14%. (Although when I made the most recent request it was about 20%.)
Any insight is greatly appreciated! (Btw, she has a Care Credit card too...similar data points...stuck at 15k)
DTI isn't so much an issue as income is. DTI is more for loan apps, where CCs more often than not look at income. When you update your personal info with Synchrony it always asks for your income for example, but doesn't ask for your expenses.
Part of the issue could be that Synchrony is simply tightening up things a bit with the pandemic/economy where it's at. I don't know if anyone else has reported issues getting to the $30k-$35k max with Lowe's since all this stuff started, but if you dig around you may find that it's not an isolated incident.
I personally don't think that utilization or spend are factors here at all. I do not believe that they do a fresh SP at the time of the CLI request, but rather use the most recent one on file for account maintenance in the last 30 days. I'm not sure if a call is necessary or not. One may be able to obtain the same CLI increase amount if going through chat or other means; I went with a call though 4 years ago and it was quick and easy.
Congratulations on your approval!
My husband started at $1,500. Called the backdoor and shot up to $10,000. Four years have passed and not one single increase. His score is now in the 750 range, so well....we shall see.
Not one late payment, met all the requirements.
When you say not one single increase in 4 years, is that with him requesting them throughout that duration of time, or has he not been requesting them and you're saying there haven't been any auto-increases? If he has been requesting them and getting denials, what is the denial reason(s)?
