I should have been reading these forums a lng time ago. I have learned some simple things like credit utilization and how it effects your credit score. I have two cards, a NFCU Nrewards that I have used everyday for the past four years at $1000 limit (my request). I always charge $800 plus to it each month and pay it in full on the first. I discovered that they report my statement balance which always shows a high utilization on this card. I am going to wait to ask for a CLI on this card. I am a bit nervous now.
THe second card is my Lowes. I have always asked to keep it at $1000 as well. It will sit for months with nothing on it and then we will use their special financing and have $800 on it for several months. Today, I did the online chat and asked for a CLI to $5000. instant aproval. I could not believe it.
Anyways, Thanks for the information that is available here.
Congrats!
Congrats! Keeping low utilization really helps. I understand wanting to keep your credit limit low but does nothing for credit health as we all know after finding the forum. Good Luck in the future CLI! Thanks for sharing.
go to navy and ask for $25k CLI the system will more than likely instantly counter you!
also if you would like more from Lowes go back and ask for $25k and they will counter you the current highest they will go.
This,
I got the Lowes card with a 2K limit. We're remodeling and have 100K cash to spend, but get an automatic 5% discount with every purchase on the card. So I asked them for a 20K CL through the reconsideration line. They apologetically countered with 12K.. So if I end up ordering 5K worth of cabinets, I will get an imediate discount of $250 and then pay if off when the statement drops. Once I finish this house, will probably buy a couple more to flip so the 5% is a nice bonus.
