Macys Amex Approval

Was doing some shopping yesterday and while checking out store associate was a very nice older woman who spent a great deal of time with me asked me if I was using my Macys card and I said no I no longer have one and I asked if I could use my signifcant others she said yes if I knew there info which I do. Then she convienced me to apply for my own and if I didnt get it I could go that route. Filled out app and went pending person on the phone verified me by calling and sending me a code to my phone. Asked if I would like Store Card or Amex. Asked for Amex. Sales lady printed out the slip and stapled it and said WOW you have excellent credit. In the back of my mind I was actually shocked I got approved I know they can be inquiry sensitive. Starting Credit Limit was 7000. I previously had this card and it was closed due to inactivity back in 2019 had a credit limit of 14,500 on that account.
