Manager Recon At Sam’s Club

I had something great happen today! I joined Sam's and the manager Allison was at the customer service desk. She asked me if I wanted to save $45 and get a Sam's Card. I told her no, I had one before and it was closed. She told me they're doing things differently. I gave in and unlocked my credit reports on my phone while she filled out the application on an iPad. She offered and wanted to fill it out. Anyway, it was declined as I knew it. But she called a number and talked to somebody with an Indian Accent, and they talked to me. Then they transferred us. And same thing, she identified herself as a manager of the Sioux Falls club and they asked me a few questions and to

talk back with her. She turned around so I couldn't hear everything being said but it sounds like she was getting me pushed through. Then they asked to talk to me and send a text message. Bam! I was approved for $500! I took down the number that she called off the phone 800-462-2996. She told me they need all the applications for credit that they can get! And for me to send my friends to her! I guess this works at any store? I have high utilization, several inquiries and a past bankruptcy... I'm not complaining!

Congrats but I assume it went to a hold/verification.

Sync still does not do decline recon on apps but verification is quite often with text message. still all handled by the computer system that someone is typing into.

Congratulations OP on the approval/reconn.  It is a foot in the door and if you shop at Sam's it is a good card to have!  

I worked at Wal-Mart in college 12+ years ago and one of the jobs they gave me was to work the credit card booth and try to get apps from people in exchange for things like 2 liter sodas just for apping.  They have pretty strict quotas and I have always had mixed opinons about it but that is a topic for a different thread.
