Have been lurking a while and after some research decided the wife and I ought to have some more available credit. We are fairly newly weds, one year in April. We are planning to make our first home purchase next summer so I wanted to get a jump start on some gardening over the next 12-15 months.
We primarily use my CSP for our go to card, I also have a freedom and she as well. I've been rolling about $9k on the CSP over the last few months, however I've been making substanial payments we just have had quite a few expenses recently so I've been sitting at a revolving 40-60% ratio. This month I paid the card off and in hindsight probably should have waited for this to report before the app spree but you know.. 20/20.
We travel quite often and are frequent United flyers, I app'd for the Club card as I was fortunate enough to have the first year waived for the AF and got a $29k limit, was more than surprised for such a great SL. I was planning to switch to the explorer card after words or if both of us having united cards it pointless, hopefully be able to move the limit to my CSP and close the account.
We my wife as well we got her the explorer card and was approved for $27k.
After getting such a great SL on my club card the Citi Prestige became very appealing to me, I decided to jump on the app spree and was also approved for another $20k!! Went ahead and put a CLI request in for the soft pull since I figured it can't hurt ![]()
All of this and adding each other as AUs should give some nice increases to our total available limits, although I wonder if I may have gone a bit to far with adding each other as AUs, her explorer however gets the $5k bonus points. Essentially with the new cards I received and adding myself as AU on her cards I'm going to go from $30,000 in credit to about $110,000
I'm waiting for all of this to report and was thinking of getting my wife one additional card as well but I thought best to wait and see what our most recent results would be. She only has the two Chase cards and a mattress firm card in her name for revolving cards. She is 25 so I don't think one more card would hurt, just not sure which route to go on the additional card. I'm eyeing the Marriott rewards card, the ritz definitely looks appealing as well but I'd like to diversify our credit issuers.
With all the new cards I'm wondering if any of them might be worth paying the 2.75% service fee to charge my wife masters degree schooling to as her company reimburses us for it.
Also had some soft pull CLIs
CSP from $20,800 to $26,800
Amazon Store from $3,100 to $5,000
Thinking of trying for my freedom as well....
Thanks for all the help thus far!
Congrats!
Thanks!

Congratulations, consider Amex or Discover? Discover has good promo 5% categories and all rewards are doubled for first year as well as 0% for 12mo. Both issue great limits too not uncommon to see a $40-50k Discover card
Thanks, I'll have to take a look. I always forget about Discover, they must not have any catchy commercials as none pop in my head lol. Guess I'll have to weigh looking at the other non-AF cards as well and see what looks best. I would almost prefer a spend X amount of $ for $200-$500 deal I think than the 0% apr. I think the category program may overlap a bit with the Freedom too.
Congrats

Nice, congrats on your success !!
