Started innocently enough and then had the itch and quenched it with three approvals.
Needed to get a new phone since mine was on the verge of becoming an unusable brick. Wanted the Pixel 10 and it was out of stock at my carrier (T-Mobile) and they had it at the local BestBuy. The BestBuy card was offering 24 months no interest, but I was kind of hesitant to apply since Citi was one of the lenders that was IIB. But I've had no inquiries or new cards in 14 months so I said what the heck. Came back approved and the store card and Visa were going to have the same limit, so I went with the Visa and received a $4k SL which I was extremely happy with.
And after that approval, I still had an itch to apply for another, so I went to apply at Liberty FCU, a CU I joined awhile back because I had read they were BK friendly. Applied and there was no instant approval or denial, just a thank you for applying message. Got a call from them and they asked a few questions and wanted me to send them POI, which I did. A couple more days went past and didn't hear anything, so I figured it was going to be a denial. So I called to ask if they needed any more info or anything from me and she said no, it's been approved. Received a $12K SL from them. And as an FYI, I opened my savings account with them quite awhile ago and never used it, I think I had a grand total of $40 in the account, so approval wasn't dependent on being a "good" customer.
I thought that was going to be it, but I got the email from T-Mobile saying they had partnered with CapOne for a new branded card. I already have a couple of CapOne cards that I got within a year of my BK7 and those cards are fairly stagnant, only a couple of small CLI's since I had the cards. But I decided to go for it anyway to get the discount on the autopay on my T-Mobile bill. Went through the CapOne pre-approval questions and it came back that I was pre-approved. Thought about it for a second and then pulled the trigger for the HP and got an approval for a $15K SL which I couldn't believe. Honestly I was expecting if I had been approved that it was going to be something like $5K. So this was my first "real" CL from CapOne since my BK7 back in 2021.
So that is good enough for me, itch fully scratched and back into the garden. Probably will close a couple of the more 'useless' cards I have now. Back into the garden for the foreseeable future now. 👍
Congrats. But beware: I had myself a little 3-card spree a few weeks ago and it snowballed into a 5-card fling rather quickly. My wife and kids had to have an intervention to stop the insanity.
