Let me start with a warning that this is going to be a semi long thread....Between 2010-2013 I defaulted on a Chase Credit card (I think it was Amazon but I can barely remember what happened yesterday let alone 10 years ago). I have applied for the Southwest credit card two times in the last three years and after waiting 11 months since I obtained my last credit card I decided to apply for the Chase Southwest card yesterday. I applied and instantly received the 7-10 business day e-mail. I have a fraud alert on my account so I called immediately. I got customer service who told me my credit card was denied for the following four reasons: (1) bad credit history with bank; (2) no banking relationship with bank; (3) too many recent delinquencies; and (4) credit cards over the limit. Reasons 1 and 2 are fair. Reason 3 I have one 30 day late payment from 2018. Reason 4 doesn't exist. My credit report on all three reports don't have any late payments. Customer service sends me to Recon. Recon reviews my credit report and then says she did everything on her part but has to transfer me to another department. She transferred me to the fraud department that was closed. I called this morning bright and early at 9AM and spoke to the fraud department after 8 minutes of silence I get thr congratulations you have been approved for a $10,000 credit card limit. If it wasn't for this forum I would not have known about Recon and would've went on my merry denial way! Thanks MyFICO amazing members.

Thats so amazing.... bravo !!! Are you sure it was a fraud dept. that approved for you or reconsideration one?? What did you talk to both those depts? Did they ask anything about reason number 1 and 2 ? Do you think you had any basis to ask them to reconsider given reasoning 1 & 2 ?
Congratulations on your Chase Southwest approval!
I am positive it was the fraud department that at the end approved me. I only know because when the recon specialist sent me the message stated the Fraud Department is closed and I tried calling initially at 8:30AM and it was the fraud department message that they were closed. Honestly, I did think they could reconsider because it was 10 years ago when I defaulted and it shouldn't matter if you bank with Chase to have a Southwest credit card. The rewards are for an airline. They didn't ask me questions about number 1 but I volunteered a reason.
Congrats on the approval!
