My Credit Card Life is Complete (for now)!

I was discharged from Chapter 7 BK almost 8 months ago and have been rebuilding as hard as I can. My scores are just shy of 700 across the board. I've been able to get a Platinum Capital One ($3800), a QS ($10K), a decent auto loan (4.24%), some store cards, Blispay ($4K) and had decided my last goal before gardening was to get a Discover. I have been checking the prequal with nothing but the wide range and was hoping to see a mailer or more narrowed interest rate online around my year after discharge mark. Lo and behold, in today's mail was a beautiful pink sparkly envelope and I was approved for $4K.!  I find it a little strange that I received no email from them or an alert for a credit pull but the approval page told me to look for the card and info in 5-7 days.

Now to age like a fine wine and work on a mortage in 2018..... Smiley Happy

Can you confirm that you were discharged from BK7 in 10/2016...discharged meaning that is when the courts approved the clearing of all of your debts...and in early 2017 your FICO scores are in the upper 600s?  When did you file?

That is Superb! Congrats on Discover!! It's always awesome when things fall in line like that.

I'm currently in the garden. When I received a Discover mailer recently I just thought to myself how cruel it was to get it. Oh Discover how you taunt me.

Wow from discharge to almost 700 in 8 months. Impressed. Getting Disco is icing on the cake especially with less than a year old bk. They must really like you. Well doneSmiley Happy

Yes, I was discharged 10/6/1 and filed 5/31/16. I think my scores are doing so well because I waited so long to file BK. All of my financial woes were due to divorce in 2012 and I kept thinking I might magically some day be able to take care of my debt. I was also choking on the idea of paying $1800 for an attorney ( I finally decided to go pro se and it worked perfectly for me). For some reason, a few of my neagtive accounts aren't on my credit reports (they were before filing). The remaining have dates of original delinquency over three years ago. I also incurred medical debt that was never placed on my reports. I have a foreclosure as well, but that's also somewhat aged. I have a few pre-BK positive items as well (credit card, mortgage, car loan). I think all of these things have contributed to a fast rebound for me. I know I won't be getting the best rates, a mortgage, or be allowed to get certain credit cards yet, but as of today, I have been able to do way more than I anticipated at this stage.

I read somewhere here that the envelope was pretty, but geez, it was like a mesmerizing little pink jewel. They knew how to catch my attention!

Thanks! I read somewhere that 8 months post discharge was a potential point of love from them. I guess it's true!
