Re: My first Amex Card!!

Congratulations! I am pleased with the Hilton cards thus far. If you like that hotel chain there are a wide range of cards to choose from in terms of AF's.

The next card depends on you and your spend. Don't get an AF fee card if it doesn't suit you. Congrats on your approval!

Re: My first Amex Card!!

Congratulations on the approval! I just got my first a couple weeks back, definitely a good feeling.

As for a 2nd, just run with this one for a while and soon you can check the pre-qualification page while signed in and it will show you which ones you qualify for. Personally I would look at the BCE card, no AF and fairly good cash back on grocery and gas.

Re: My first Amex Card!!

Congratulations.

Which card you get next depends a lot on you and your needs.

Some will offer a 0% Balance transfer and 15 months no interst. Others will offer a higher rewards structure on different kinds of purchases.

The Gold and Platinum cards offer a rewards and perks structure that may or may not serve you well. Amex is happy to have you as a customer and once you're established they don't much care how many cards you spread it over - I think they're OK with up to five revolvers, and they usually approve new cards without a hard pull.

Start checking the pre-qualified page in a couple of months for "you're pre-qualified" instead of "Expanding your membership is easy."

And once you start getting prequals, look up here how to generate the best sign-up bonuses.
