Hey All, I know this is a hot topic so I thought I'd share and also ask a question.
I applied for the savings account as recommended on this site with $5 - instant approval. Once I got the member number and logged in,
I applied the same day for a Rewards credit card. I got the 2-3 days referral sign. The next day I got an email approving me for a $2K limit with 10.49% apr.
Not yet sure if they did a HP. Both TU and EQ monitoring show no pull yet.
My question is, should I ask for a reconsider on the limit? Here are my details:
AAOA - 2yrs 2 mths, most of which is as AU. Only 6 months with my own CCs.
Wallet - NFCU 25K, CAP1 VENTURE 5K, BOA VISA 3K, BOA MC 1K, WF HOME REBATE 2.5K, NFCU LOC 10K
Mortgage in good standing since Jan 2014.
UTIL: 8%
No negatives ever.
Income 96K W-2
EQ 702( FICO), EX 738 (FAKO)
They asked for photo ID and SS card as verification.
Congrats! It's worth a shot.
My experience: was approved for 5k, and before funded I messaged them saying I was really hoping to BT about 7500 to the Nasa card. When I checked back I had been upped to the 7500. Kicking myself for not asking for 8k, as that would've covered everything I need to BT and now I'll have a little left over on a higher rate card. Still happy!
Congrats on the approval! I have not dealt with them but I think if you can spare time a phone call never hurts!!
Good luck with the recon!
Congratulations!...Thanks For Sharing.![]()
Thanks for the advice. I tried this and they said that an underwriter would contact me. They got back very quicly and said that $2K was the absolute
limit they could approve me for. Bummer.
My question now is if I should go ahead and cancel the account before it reports to CRAs? I have no HP showing on my CR yet but won't the new card lower my AAOA
and put banks off of extending me other offers because of too many new lines?
Any advice will be greatly appreicated.

You already applied with legitimate need and the account may report any moment. You can close it and will report for up to 10 years. It's not like NASA made a mistake in granting an account you didn't apply for. Maybe your ego is bruised somewhat but this is a lesson learned with some lenders. It doesn't mean you can't request a CLI with them in the future.
Thanks for the response.
But it's not about a bruised ego. I genuinely needed a card with a high limit to do some crucial home renovations
and I'm not yet eligible for a HELOC. I did a lot of research on which cards offered high starting limits and decided to go for this one.
I'm just trying to make an informed decision moving forward.
congrats
