NFCU CLI :(

Just got a CLI today from Navy. Everyone here usually boasts about a high CLI from Navy here, and I had my hopes up when my 90 days came, and 3rd statement cut. I know it also depends on the person's credit profile, AAoA, etc.

Starting CL on the GoRewards: $1200

CLI Request: $20,000

CLI: $3600

Navy doesn't like me Smiley Sad

Re: NFCU CLI :(

They don't?? I would disagree 😁  They increased your credit limit by 300%. That's pretty darn good. In 6 months hit the luv button again and you can probably apply for a second card today. If they approve the second card your SL might be even higher than your first card. Good luck and don't be discouraged. Congrats on the CLI.

Re: NFCU CLI :(

Congratulations on your CLI! And don't feel too bad about it not being a huge one. Be glad they aren't treating you like they're treating me; tried at 3 month and 4 months, both declined, even on recon. So, I'll keep trying every month till they get tired of me...

Re: NFCU CLI :(

We all agree so far, its a really nice increaseSmiley Happy It WILL GET BETTERSmiley Happy

Heres my question. You actually tequested 20k? The thing is the vast majority of us just hit max and do not actually request a specific number because usually Navy will give what you are eligble for. Its just me but i would think actually requesting may make them look at your report more closely, thus a hp.

Dont worry though itll get better. Try getting approved for only $500 like i did then we can talk semanticsSmiley Wink

Re: NFCU CLI :(

Be thankful that they gave you a unsecured card and even got in the door with unsecured.

I have a secured and have not got in the door yet and intend on applying soon, again for an unsecured. I'm waiting on a couple collections to fall off and my loan payment to update.

Re: NFCU CLI :(

They started me out at $17,600.  After the appropriate time I asked for $25,000 they said nope, nada, nothing.

I figured I was probably just being greedy and will never press my luck again.  So if my card never gets a auto CLI, oh well, I'm still sittin' perdy.

No, no, no.

Don't quite let that get the better of you and here is one example ok?

I read and seen all the hype with NFCU and when i got my membership and first applied with FICO Scores zooming in the 720 range what do i see? $3800 Smiley Embarassed

I got a sinking feeling this CU was not the least interested while other members with FICO Score just 650 and lower and such pulling in 15-25K lines. I was going to close it and move on period.

Then when the CLI did roll around i wasn't expecting much if anything and it went from that $3.8K straight up to $15,000 Smiley Surprised

I guess what i'm saying is don't throw in the towel. It didn't come through with what was expected this time and that's Ugh feeling i know. But chances are very good IMO that the next go around it will.

Hard as it is we just have drive right back at them again the next time and seems they always eventually make up for it.

Hang in there and keep it going.
