Same here with car loan. I was thinking about refi through NFCU or my local CU.I am trying to figure out if it is better to do that and get a new loan at 100% or have a loan that is partly paid off.

For me, I'm pretty comfortable paying what I'm paying (even though it's still wayyy too much) - it looks like a good possibility that NFCU could potentially 1/3 to 1/2 my interest. This way I'll just maintain the same payment and pay it off faster. Plus I only owe ~7500 of the 15k original.
Also it's a TDI, so i'll be able to keep the 5000 bucks from the settlement rather than dumping it into the loan
Thanks,
Yes that was my first post. I have been reading the forums for a couple of months but never had anything really to say, just learning all the knowledge here. I was very happy about the Amex, now if only Discover could see the error in thier judgement.
Started in October 2015 with a Cap1 secured. Got the Chase Freedom a year later. Also got an Amazon Prime Card. Scores dropped a bit getting these new cards but overall went up From upper 500s to the 660s. Consolidating an couple of old student loands helped.
Hoping to be in the 700s so I can get a good rate on a VA loan. But that is a year or two away.

OP, what are your TU and EQ scores?
I was 640 TU and 625 EQ and they did a refi a few days after I joined.. went from 14.7 down to 4.79%.. try it now!
mine are about the same, little higher. Just going to get some more util down, get some BT's from NFCU at the low rate, pay it off -
let it sit for a statment then refi, hoping to get 'what i'm worth' in rates.
