Does Navy give any notice if it will be a soft pull vs. hard pull?  Or, is it a roll of the dice?

I have only once heard of never read that Navy will give a heads up.   I was given a heads up on the phone with a CSR that would let me know ifif a HP will be needed.  That was on August 2nd. So I went ahead with the initial SP CLI attempt just because and would have declined authorizing a HP.   I had requested only 3.1K because the max lately has been reported as 4K.  I may be weird but having a card w@ 23.1K has more of an intrinsic value to me than having a CC at 24K - hence my request of only a 3.1K increase.

Having read through the Navy threads completely, i domt think anyone will say Navy gives a heads up.

Expect a hard pull for everything and be happy/surprised to get only a soft pull.

P.s.  apply online for a CLI ... rather than call.  My call to them initially was only to inform/preapprove them/their fraud department I would be making a 5 figure purchase, which would be way out of my normal spending.  I did not want them to decline the transaction, not even once.

from all the DP that are floating around right now, its all still SP by online request. If you call in, it MAY be a HP but you can ask your CSR if it will be a SP or a HP.

Congrats on the CLI! I’m just now trying on my cashRewards Card that’s been open since November. Didn’t want to chance a HP before closing on a house (which happened July 1)
