NFCU Platinum approval

I've been waiting for all of my baddies to fall off. About 3 weeks ago thanks to forum members I checked my Fico 8 and it was a 720. I would've thought low to mid 600's. So I prequal and app'd for Discover and Amex. Got the Discover with 10k SL and the PRG. It's been 3 weeks and wasn't really planning on app'ing for anything else until March of next year. I would go and check the prequal sites once a week just to see once my scores changed if anything changed on prequals.

Last week I joined USAA and NFCU. I am holding off a bit for PenFed since they hard pull for membership. But even though the prequal sites haven't been too kind I app'd tonight for some reason to NFCU and figured I'd try for the platinum.

Approved [email protected]%. So now I am done for sure until March when my first cc hits year 1. But now that I will have 3 revolvers and a charge in addition to a car loan, I should be able to start picking up my scores with gardening. I 708-718 on CCT tonight between all 3 bureaus. So something said go for it in my head.

I know it's not their best card but now I'm in and can prove myself for better cards with them and hopefully be able with 2/3 cards at 10k will open doors all around.

Also, if you think you might need to carry a balance the Platinum absolutely is NFCU's best card!  Smiley Wink

(So many people think the Platinum is a 'starter' card because they conflate it with the Capital One product of the same name, but that's comparing apples and oranges - NFCU is not Capital One.)

Re: NFCU Platinum approval

Great card. Limit and apr are fantastic. Like UncleB says it is a great pick up especially for balances. Imagine getting the 0/0 offer in feb and using this card.pricelessSmiley Wink
