Navy Federal Auto CLI

Good evening,

This morning Navy Federal increased my credit limit on my cash rewards from 5k to 7k. I was honestly hoping to go for a cli myself and get approved for more since I recently removed the last negative item from my Equifax report (FICO Score 780). Do I now need to wait 6 months to apply for another credit limit increase? Thanks

Re: Navy Federal Auto CLI

40% increase isn't bad, but I get the wanting to get the full bump. As I understand it, your next CLI request will have to wait another 6 months. How long was it before this latest one?

You could try before then, but I don't think your odds of a big change are very good.

Re: Navy Federal Auto CLI

This was my first cli ever (the account is 5yrs, 4 mos old). I recently got a negative account removed from my Equifax which was holding me back. Like you said 40% increase isn't bad, I guess I'll just wait 6 months.

Re: Navy Federal Auto CLI

Congratulations on your auto CLI!  You can contact NFCU and ask to opt out of auto increases, that way you can manually request them every 6 months.  They'll either give the max of $8k, a lower amount, or a sad face.  Hopefully no sad faces, but requests online are a SP so no biggie.

Re: Navy Federal Auto CLI

Yep, every 6 months like clockwork.

Max TCL with Navy Federal is $80K so you've got plenty of room to grow

Congratulations on your Approval!!👏🏼🍾🥂

I thought there was something posted several months ago, that an auto CLI vs a requested CLI were now no different with Navy. Regardless of how the CLI happened, you get what you would have gotten, whether you had initiated or it was an auto.

Yes @Vinjints,  as far as the dollar amounts awarded (or not awarded) that would be true being you can no longer specify the amount you'd like.  But, I'm confident the OP would have grown their limit much sooner (if they're into that) by manually requesting increases every 6 months rather than what the frequency of them granting auto CLIs is.
