@CreditAggie Thank you! I'm looking forward to seeing you get these goal cards of yours too! Whenever you do go for them you may find you don't need the Cash Rewards.
My wife got the Cash Rewards then I later got the Flagship and I added her. Now we never use the Cash Rewards other than a reoccurring subscription so it doesn't close.
You might end up being satisfied with just the More Rewards and Flagship. But of course do whatever you think is best for you!
I was thinking that the cashRewards would be a good way to get a foot in the credit door with Navy since they tend to start out with smaller SLs on the first card, and then go for More Rewards and Flagship where they would then be more generous with SLs deeper into the relationship. I see where you are coming from since the cashRewards is a 1.5% card (1.75% with DD) while the Flagship earns 2% back on non-category spend so that is something I will keep in mind.
@CreditAggie I hear ya! When I first joined Navy Federal the word around town was don't get the Flagship first because usually Navy starts your first card off lower and then on your second card they usually blow your mind with $25K. When I started my bank account I waited a month and then got the More Rewards with a starting limit of $9300. After 91/3 I asked for a limit increase and they gave me $8000 more, then a 2 days later I applied for the Cash Rewards and was denied for reaching their max limit. In hindsight I should've applied for the new card first and then the limit increase.
Since my wife had 0 cards with them she applied for the Cash Rewards card. At the time her profile was a lot better than mine. I was still in rebuild mode. They approved her for $5500. I was shocked since they had given me $9300 with a worse profile and with just 1 month banking history. She applied with 4 months banking history.
I waited for 3 months after the Cash Rewards denial and I applied for the Flagship card. I had drastically improved my credit profile at this point. Fico scores had rising 70+ points since my More Rewards approval. I just knew I was gonna get $25K or at least more than the $9300 I got on the More Rewards initially. Nope, they gave me $5200. I did have to consider though this was in the beginning stages of the pandemic when many lenders were being more conservative.
There's a saying, "Navy Federal does what they want" meaning sometimes there's no rhyme or reason or logical way to explain what they do. I've seen a lot of people get $20K to $25K on their first card. Some who have shared data points that seem to be worse off than mine. I've also seen people who opened an account, who had a strong credit profile, and then immediately apply for a card and only get $1000.
For as long as you have had your Navy Federal Bank account and with your profile I'd be shocked if you got less than $10K on your first card. Of course I could be wrong cause Navy does what it wants!😂 Definitely do what you feel is best. If you want you could make the More Rewards your first and then see if you're ready for the Flagship when you're ready for another card.

We'll see how it goes! For now, I will be gardening until I get back up to a Gold Spade again.
Congrats!! NF is no joke! Just went from 25K to 30K on my More Rewards. Just requested an increase on my Cash Rewards sitting at 25K. My Go Rewards is currently at 14.8K and has been consistently raised by 4K every 6 months. Next increase should be the end of this month.
Navy Federal did it again!!! Just got my Cash Rewards CLI approved! From 25K to 30K!! More Rewards was approved from 25k to 30k 2 days ago. I asked for 5k and got the full amount. No request for POI, which I was ready to submit. Been with NF almost 3 yrs. I have 3 credit cards. I PIF all cards w/multiple payments during the month It's a good day!! 😁
Wow! 🎉 Navy Federal is like Oprah 😂 You get a credit limit increase! , and you get a credit limit increase 😁and yes you get a Credit Limit Increase!!! I am truly loving me some Navy Federal Credit Union! Congratulations! 🍾🎊
Next, build my Go Rewards from 14.8k to at least 20k. I will request CLI the end of the month. Last 2 CLI's were 4k (SL - $700). Patiently waiting for that Navy Luv on this card!

@Lovee1428 Thank you! Also I agree! I love them! They have been an excellent bank and card issuer for me! Congratulations to you on all the movement on your cards! You may want to ask for $8000 more next time you ask for an increase. For most of 2020 and early 2021 they were giving out a max increase of $4000. They have now resumed giving out $8000. My wife got $8000 in September then I got $8000 twice since then. Best wishes to you when you go for your next increase!
