On Thursday the 29th of June, I was shopping online at Petco, where I buy a fair share of stuff for my dogs. At checkout, they were offering 20% off your purchase if you are approved for the Comenity backed Petco Pay card. Since you can rack up points for Petco purchases and even though I had a bunch of HP's and approvals in June, I still decided WTH, I'll give it a try, what's one more HP since I was going to be done applying for anything until July 2024 letting all the HP's age out. Thought it would probably be declined, but that if I was going to be approved, it would be for the Petco store card, not the MC, but if I was declined, no big deal. Well, I was approved, and for the MC surprisingly. Only a $1600 SL but it's not like I am going to use this card many other places besides Petco because I have better rewards cards to use elsewhere.
Two days later, on 7/1, the trade line is now being reported to all 3 credit bureaus and reporting a balance. Now granted, it's not a lot, but other than 2 cards I'm using with 0% interest, I pay all my other cards before the statement cuts and a balance gets reported. Fast forward a week to this past Saturday the 8th, and the bill arrives in the mail (I absolute HATE paper statements coming in the mail). I haven't even received my physical card yet, so I can't set up online access to my account and I can't add the account to online billpay at my CU where I do my main banking at.
I just find it absolutely crazy how fast that all happened before even receiving the card in the mail. I've never had anything happen that quickly before when applying for and being approved for a card.

Synchrony bank does the same thing they have a 48 hour reporting window.
It isn't a huge issue by your own words you don't plan to use credit again for 12 months and in 20 or so days this will be another card reporting zero dollars.

+1
It depends on how new you are to this credit game i suppose. As mentioned Synchrony is lickity-split rapid in reporting a new card especially one with a Balance on it. Just something to make note of. For me it's always a juggling match when approved by either Lenders. I have seen Comenity go 2 months before reporting but that was with a new card with No Useage too.
Its like going to Best Buy. Would you like a card and get a special deal for your 80" OLED TV if approved. Sure. Theres your new card coming with a balance.
Congratulations on your Petco Mastercard approval! Thank you for the DPs with the card reporting and generating a statement even before you receive the physical card.
Congrats on the approval
