Hi all,
I am new to the site (been flipping through the posts for about a week). I have already learned so much about credit and credit card that I have increased my score 50 points, Now this was done from pure luck and timing but from everything that i have already learned it enabled me to do this. I have been very ashamed of my credit in the past and still have low numbers (600 ish from all sites) but that is a big increase from 2010 when my cc crisis began. I had pretty much given up on credit cards and used cash for everything. Back in April of 14 I filled out a lot of the " see if you qualify" applications and none came back very pleasant. ( my score through free credit score at the time was 530) I did manage to come across the verve card and that got my foot in the door. I then realized I may have some luck in the future. Fasst Forward to this month. I got lucky with a collection that was removed and i believe getting ready to go to another company but i paid the $100.80 to the original creditor to prevent it from reappearing. Thats when i found this wonderfull place and began reading, a lot. I re gained the confidence that i once had and went on a spree figuring what do i have to lose. I started with credit one and instantly approved for $400, this got me feeling pretty good so i appled for the Capitol One venture one and instantly $500. I then went to discover as this was one card i have never had and thought what the hell i'll try it. Denied, I immediately called recon to be denied again. Oh well some day. And to end my year i went to the credit union where my wife and I have a pretty nice savings and applied for a joint card throught them. A few hours later $1000 approval. I know these are low but i feel I have began my credit file over and continue to monitor, garden, and pay off a few old debts that some day will allow me into the 800 club.
Welcome to MyFico!
I'm happy to hear you were able to find help and information here. Hopefully you'll be able to continue finding help and advice here. There's a lot of knowledgeable people, and I've learned a lot from them over the years, I'm sure you will too.
Congrats on your recent approvals. Just treat your cards right and they'll treat you right. And always remember the #1 rule - When in doubt, garden.
Thanks for the warm welcome in the past (my younger years) I was alwasy aware of "MY SCORE" but never really payed much attention to it. I went from being able secure credit for what I needed, to just about letting it all go in 2011 and 2012. Every credit card we had was cancelled by us or charged off. Credit lines maxed, behind on payments and risking letting our home go. We are well established with our hometown bank and they were willing to work with us to allow us to keep our house and car payment in good standing. But the credit cards, I thought I wouldn't see one of those again until 2025.LOL. And yes I am going to sit back and garden for a good 5-6 months and let some of these new accounts age and show low utilization.
Welcome to the forum!
Congratulations on your recent credit card success! Everyone has to start somewhere. Your limits are fine for the rebuilding stage of your life, and they will grow with time. Remember you can always ask for CLIs (credit limit increases) every six months, and that will be a SP (soft pull) CLI meaning it will not hurt your FICO scores.
Thanks again
Congrats and welcome to the forum!
