Just a month ago I was approved for a B&H Financing Card (Synchrony), and as has been reported here, B&H is shutting down both that and their Payboo card on January 17th, and will have a new program replacing both of those later in January.
There's a $830 item I've been planning to buy two units of from B&H, but B&H has been out of stock. I had planned to apply for a Newegg card (also Synchrony) at some point in the future, but I decided to apply today because Newegg has the item in stock. I requested a $3000 limit.
The online approval process involved sending text messages to my phone at two different times. At the start of the process, they sent a link to click to continue the application, and that worked fine. But after I filled out the form and submitted it, the web page said that they would text a code to me at a phone number, for which they gave the last four digits, AND IT WAS NOT MY PHONE NUMBER! This despite that they had texted the correct phone number earlier in the process!
I had to call Synchrony to complete the application. I was approved, but only with a $900 limit.That did let me buy one item from Newegg. I expect that after a while I'll be able to get a CLI.
If B&H gets any in stock before January 17th, I'll order one item from them as well. If all else fails, I can buy one from Amazon, or from Newegg on another card, but without the 0% financing that the B&H Financing and Neweg cards offer.
