Found out Nordstrom just gave me an auto CLI of 2500 on my store card when I called CS to make sure they hadn't charged me for an exchange of a mismarked item. Was surprised since I had only used it twice the month I opened the account in mid April and once a week ago. The starting CL was 5000 and I've only charged 800 including the latest charge so it's not like I needed an increase.
The CSR also told me I was eligible for upgrade to Visa so I asked the usual MyFico questions - HP?, new TL? and she said no so I told her to go ahead and upgrade. It literally took seconds! They must have a special upgrade button or something. She was so nice and wanted to see what else she could do for me but she said I already had Tier 1 something and so she told me info about my points, sales dates, etc. I was impressed by how helpful she wanted to be. I think I'll start using the card more and buying more from Nordstrom since the customer service is so great.
Congrats on your great day! Thanks for sharing your CLI and upgrade!
Congrats on your CLI! Your new visa version will show up as a separate TL on CR, but i'm not too sure about if it'll be a HP. Agents usually ask you if you'll willing to authorize a HP before proceeding.
Rats. The CSR said it would replace the old account #, history, age would stay the same. She never did ask about checking credit, so I guess no HP but I guess I was misinformed about a new TL showing up on my reports. Oh, well, it's done and it's okay.

Oh if the CSR told you that, then you should be okay. AFAIK if you have the store card & approved for the credit card version, then it'll be showin as two separate TLs on your CR. But if the CSR is able to replace everything, then you should be golden!
Congrats

Congrats! That is so awesome. So, you didn't ask for the increase, they just gave it to you while you were on the phone?
I just got one (also with a $500 limit) and am hoping for the same kind of thing will happen to me in a few months
I guess they had increased my limit automaticallly prior to my call. It was the CSR who told me what my new limit was when I had asked about my charges and balance. I figured it was sometime very recently because when I looked at my account before ordering something last week, the CL was still the original opening amount. I hardly ever used this card so that's why I was so surprised they increased my limit.
I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope they treat just as generously.
Thanks Lexie. Good to know that it's not an HP. Let us know when it reports, it'll be useful info for those considering upgrading. I'm too impulsive and do things without fully researching (I should know better now with so many recent experiences with CSR's info not being correct but I get so caught up in the moment). I'm a bad example for those trying to be careful with their credit. Just been lucky so far, though.
