Nordstrom Visa Signature & Chase Freedom instant approval!!!

Hi everyone!

So last night, after having a glass of wine or 2, I made my way into Nordstrom to apply for their card. It was very quick and simple - not as nervewracking as I thought it'd be. The entire process took less than 5 minutes and I was out with a new Visa Signature card with Tier I APR (10.9%) and a cute new pair of boots for winter! WOOOOOHOOOO!!!  No word on what my credit limit is though. My temporary credit card receipt only has a bar code but no account # that I can punch in over the phone. 

I also applied for Chase Freedom once I got home and was instantly approved for $4000. I am thinking of reconning for a higher limit once I receive the card and call to activate - I was thinking $10,000. Would that be feasible with a good credit score (792 - dropped 10pts from yesterday for the Chase inquiry!) but lower income (~$25K)?

The next cards on my list are the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Costco Amex, and the SPG - but those, unfortunately, will have to wait since I am in a transitional period in life. Once I graduate college in 2 weeks and I find a better paying job, you best believe those 3 cards will be on top of my priority list!

EDIT: FYI, for those of you who are already a Nordstrom Fashion Rewards member, the sales lady told me they will be having a 10 POINTS day IN-STORE this Sunday (12/8). I don't see this on their website so I don't know if it's super insider information or what - but either way, pull out your card and go shop!

IME, reconing the CL on activation is a 99% denial and wasted HPs. Wait 3-6 months until your internal score improves.

Congrats on your approvals.  Chase will be an additional hp, so if you need more now and you think you can recon a higher limit then go for it.  

Nordstrom Visa Siggy starts at $5k, after 6/7 months you can request a CLI.  They are running their triple points day and for those of us who spend way too much money in there -10 points too.  this time next year, I'm sure you would be a Level 2-4 Fashion RewardsMember and have access to even more perks.

This Sunday is 10 points per dollar, if you are level 2 or above. You may have to ask your salesperson to pre-ring for the event if you're shopping too early in the day.

Yes you're right, 10 points! I remembered it was either 3 or 10 (10 sounded too good to be true) so I went the safer route lol. Thank you for the correction and positive vibes everyone~ you are all so helpful here!

Lexie, you are right - I called Nordstrom and the nice lady told me my CL is $5000. I'll take it!

Bostonte - Hmmm...I did not know it was only for level 2 members. When I signed up for my card and bought my boots (I wanted the $20 Nordstrom notes), the saleswoman told me to come back on Sunday and I can return it/rebuy it so I can earn the 10 points even though I'm level 1. I will give my local Nordstrom's a call later tonight and report back. Thanks for your input!

Since your scores are so close to 800 I would go on your app spree now and apply for the remaing 3 or 4 that you listed... they will all be instant I bet and age all together!
