Applied in store, given a printed receipt to call 800 number. Called and a not-so-very nice lady answered and said I was declined due to a recent inquiry from Discover. I understood and thanked her for her time.
I emailed Nordstom's customer service department and gave them my experience with the lady I had spoken with.
I received a phone call 20 minutes later from the Nordstrom support service manager after I sent the email.
He was so nice , he said they had a chance to listen to the phone call and apologized for my experience, agreeing that the lady I spoke with was condescending.
I thanked him for calling me and expresed my gratitude for a company actually reading emails and getting back to customers (I wanted to send flowers to the guy at this point).
I was ready to hang up - I was not going to ask him to review the application, I was so taken back that he called me, that getting the card wasn't even on my mind.
Before we hung up, the gentleman says "I would also like to welcome you to the Nordstrom family because there is a card in the mail with your name on it"
It's a $500 limit, but I was almost in tears when he said that to me.
Thanks for giving me a chance Nordstrom!

He was so nice I could tell just by his voice that I wanted to take him on he said they had a chance to listen to the phone call and apologized for my experience, agreeing that the lady I spoke with was condescending.
