Yeah, I think the platinum probably would have been a better fit but the reserve offered a much better SUB. I'll revisit everything before the next AF hits.

Honestly I don't know how I got off the black list, I assume some algorithm(s) decided it was time. I was bored at the hotel one night and decided to play with the prequalify link and it showed I was prequalified for a few charge cards. I tried for the delta platinum initially but was denied because of income because I had entered it wrong.(I have a base pay, a daily per diem and I'm paid to use my truck in lieu of the company getting me a rental). I received a HP on on TU and EXP and thought well this is odd, I must be off the list and as I was talking to my DGF the next day I told her that I thought I was off the black list and asked her if she could try to add me to one of her accounts and about 10 minutes later she got an alert that I was approved to be on her account. I waited a few days shy of a week from the denial on the platinum and was checking out the offerings again and decided to go for the reserve since it had been upped to 125k miles for 5k in spend since I knew it would be easy to make it happen without changing any spending habits other than what card we use. I received the same double pull again and was approved.
it was a surprise but no exciting revelation of events that lead to me being off their list. I dont know how much was owed to Amex for sure but I know it was under 10k when my ex did her financial hit job on me. It took me years to recover from that financially.
Thank you for sharing. Since I am now in year 16 of being blacklisted, I'm starting to think that I've been given a life sentence. I've been on the phone with many Amex reps over the years and none will provide any info.
