I need better travel rewards cards. the new no AF version of Citi Strata Denied me, and I'm going to recon at least 4x on that thing( because I have been a reliable and profitable Citi borrower/banker in the past). I have several niche rewards cards, so as I do I checked the thing for OneKey and OneKey+ again;
I was still pre approved for OneKey/OneKey+ (both same SL) for $7,000.00. I hit submit, and it took about 60 seconds. I've noticed recently with approvals, it actually takes a little bit longer for it to load... and that's a good sign...like when it takes 60 seconds instead of 15 lol. These are nailbiting moments yall!!! Score showed that they did pull Fico 09 which for me was a little bit higher than my 08. Approved all the way for $7k w lowest rate 19.24%
I have old checking and credit accounts with WF that had 10 years of positive history and closed in goodstanding.
The $400 OneKey Cash after 1k spend was ending 08/05/25 and it did end along with the OneKey+ WEMC with 600 after 3k spend (I chose not to go the OneKey+ route because a 40% return (400/1000) is better than a 20% return (600/3000). I like rewards, but I'm not going to start worrying about "oh I need to get that $100 credit and this other TSA $100 credit..".etc; Like I got an offer for that New Chase Reserve Card in my email directly for me with the "intended for my name only" and that's too complicated. 82% of credit card rewards go unused.
One perk I will immediately take advantage of is the $1,000 phone coverage by paying my phone bill with it! (I have other cards but their coverages range from 600-800 from what I could find in the Terms from old mail lol)
P.S. I use Expedia and hotels.com along with Travelocity and sometimes Priceline. Occassionally, I'll book direct but with flights/hotels, direct book is a rare scenario that's often more costly ime, so while I've heard that some of the OneKeyCash points are bad or wont work and people realize after they have the card it's on Expedia and a couple others only... I read that prior and I like Expedia and the other sites).
P.S. BONUS: I got $15 extra One Key Cash already uploaded into my Expedia account just for downloading and signing in with the WF app!
Congratulations on your approval & SL @youngandcreditwrthy
Nice win; congrats on the $7K SL and the OneKey approval! That 736 FICO 09 pull on Experian clearly did the job. It’s always great when the pre-approval actually sticks, and your experience lines up with what I’ve seen; slightly longer loading times during submission often signal a real approval brewing.
Good call on skipping the OneKey+ in favor of the no-AF version; 40% return on the $400 SUB is a smart play; especially since the AF version had already ended. You also broke down the perks and practical uses really well; the $1K phone protection is a huge plus, and it’s rare to see that offered on a no-AF card.
Totally feel you on the “rewards overload” frustration; it’s easy to get caught up in chasing TSA credits; $100 credits here and there; but it’s not always worth the mental overhead. That 82% stat you quoted about unused rewards is eye-opening; it really drives the point home that simplicity has its place in any strategy.
Also, that bonus $15 One Key Cash uploading automatically into Expedia is a nice cherry on top; it’s those small wins that make the ecosystem feel more rewarding when it just works without hassle.
Thanks for the detailed post; it helps a lot of us looking at Wells Fargo’s direction with their newer products. You’ve built a solid strategy around your preferences (Expedia; direct flights; etc.); and this new card looks like a good fit for your setup. Looking forward to your follow-up once you start redeeming.
Congratulations on your OneKey No Af Version approval & GL on some satisfaction w/ the other try!
Good for you. Congrats on your approval. Enjoy your new card.

Congrats on the $7k approval and locking in that $400 SUB; that’s a solid win. I like how you weighed the OneKey+ bonus versus the no AF version and chose the better return for your spend; smart move. The phone coverage perk is a nice extra, and it’s great you can actually put it to use. Also good to see you’re already getting some value from the card with that $15 One Key Cash credit. Sounds like it’s going to fit in well with your travel and rewards strategy.
