Just upgrade to Platinum. It's their best looking card, in my opinion. Love it. Only thing that would really make it perfect would be if they made it a "metal" card. Now that would be a beautiful card. I love the look of the silver platinum card, not that the PRG looks bad. I love that look too, just like the platinum look better. It's my favorite looking card and sees plenty of love. I mean charges (LOL).I would never upgrade to a card just because I like the way it looks more. That being said, I don't like the way it looks more, I actually like the look of the PRG more although I will admit Platinum is a nice looking card. I choose cards based on rewards structure and benefits. Since I already have CSR, Platinum makes no sense for me right now. PRG makes a lot more sense for what I will use it for. We shall see though, I could see myself with a Plat in the future however I would not upgrade I would go for that 100k offer if the time was right.
I was being facetious. I didn't upgrade to Platinum for the "look". I upgraded for the lounge access, 200.00 airline fee reimbursement, concierge service, 100K bonus, and more. For my uses, the Platinum works well and I will keep it for year's to come. I really like Amex. I don't app any card's I don't plan on keeping for a very long time, unless the benefits change substantially. I won't even app card's to get the bonus with the intention of closing them in the future. It's just not my way.
I knew you were =) and I didn't think you got the Plat just for the way it looks. I mean, for those beneifits I wouldn't care if it was a piece of cardboard (actually I probably would care) Sorry I didn't mean to come off as snippy was just trying to explain the way I chose my cards, and really the way of thinking everyone should use before deciding on what card to app for. Does it make sense, can you get good use out of it, can you spend in the categories that the card was designed for, do the benefits fit you, can you justify the AF, just to name a few... all things people should seriously consider. I see it happen all too much, people apping for cards and then trying to make it fit into their spend instead of doing research first. With all that being said, if I do decide to get the Plat one day I would keep it for the long term in addition to PRG and CSR. I'm like you in that way, I have no intentions of closing cards in the future and I don't app just for the bonus. The bonus is just the cherry on top for something I've done my research on and makes sense for me.
