PayPal Extrsa MasterCard

I recently applied for the PayPal Extras MasterCard, once I filled out the application online, it said I have to call a 1-866 number, so I did. They had to vefity who I was (social and sent my phone a text message with 6 numbers I had to give them), and I was approved. But here's what threw me off - he said I will get a package in the mail with the account number and I will link that to my PayPal account, but I won't get an actual card. Does this make sense to anyone? I'm on hold with another person from PayPal so I figured I would ask here while I listen to this music, lol.

Re: PayPal Extrsa MasterCard

Sounds like you didn't qualify for the mastercard, and got the "smart connect" line of credit instead.

I'm new at rebuilding my credit so this might sound like a dumb question - will this still help build my credit?

+1  If it was a MasterCard they would send you the actual card.

Don't have SC, so I'm not sure if it reports conventionally. Someone else will jump in here eventually.

Yes because Smart Connect reports to all 3 credit bureaus.

Thank you! Trying to rebuilt my credit after my teenage years ruined it, but up 30 points from back then!

Re: PayPal Extrsa MasterCard

I know there's some type of gimmick, where you apply for the debit card, after getting SC, and link the two, and you get some type of rewards structure from the linkup. Use the search bar for paypal sc.

Congrats! You can get the business debit card and link to smart connect and get 1% on purchases where ever Mastercard is accepted.  Thanks for sharing.

Smart Connect can be pretty useful. First of all, it reports to all 3 bureaus. Second of all, as far as I know they auto-review your expedintures every 4 months and if you PIF (pay in full) each month or at least don't carry more than 10% balance you may qualify for a credit limit increase. PayPal can be generous when it comes to cli (credit limit increase).
