PenFed PCR CLI Approval and Gold Card CLI DP Decline

My PF accounts are over a year old and didn't want to apply for another card.  Requested CLI online, took the HP for the PenFed Power Cash Rewards, approved for $10,000 CLI taking that card to $25,000.  EQ F9 is 843.   You don't get to request how much you'd like...you simply put in the request and then you get an amount.  

Knowing their luck with reusing the HP, I called in to request a CLI on the Gold Card which was also at $15K.  They processed over the phone using the same HP and it was declined and the reason was "reached Maximum Aggregate" though I immediately thought...nope, Max is $50K and with one CLI, I'm now at $40K Max Aggregate.  The CSR also noted this wasn't accurate and put me on hold.  Comes back and states they've made a few changes.  The Max CL for a PenFed Power Cash Rewards is $25K and I'm now there.  The Max CL for the PenFed Gold is $15K.  That is new.  SO, they can't give me a CLI on the Gold as I'm already at the Max for that card.  She said she could re-use the HP and I could apply for the Pathfinder Rewards which has a Max CL of $25K, but I wouldn't get approved for more than $10K because of the Gold.  I then asked if I could product change the Gold to the Pathfinder then request CLI...NO, they don't do Product Changes any longer.  She explained she could complete the App for the Pathfinder, confident she could get it approved for $10K and then ASK if I could close the Gold and then ask for a CLI on the Pathfinder, essentially, processing another CLI to get the newly approved account from $10K to $25K taking me to the MAX AGGREGATE of $50K.  I declined that offer.  While it had a lot of moving pieces, the new account FICO hit and aging change just for another $10K with PF didn't feel worth it.  

So for future reference:

Yes, with some luck you can re-use the HP from one CLI on another card, I did

The Max CL on the Gold Card is now $15K

The Max CL on the PowerCash is $25K

The Max CL on the Pathfinder is $25K

The Max Aggregate is still $50K (though I know some long-haulers were grandfathered in much farther than that...us newbies aren't so fortunate)

Congrats on your cli. I don't know if it's now set in stone for max for PenFed Powercash? I heard this same rule last year in Dec when I got approved  for 25k and then a month later I had a preapproval for 13k on all the PenFed cards including powercash. I decided instead of another card, I took 13k increase. I did one call when 38,000 wasn't showing on my account and they changed it to 38k. Maybe you should try someone else unless 2021 they really keeping the max at 25k
