Here's my story: I applied for an Amex Pathfinder with Penfed since I've been a member for over a year. I already have a Penfed Platinum (7500 limit), PLOC (15 K limit) , and refinanced my car (5 k). I was denied for too many recent accounts, balance high to credit limits.
First, I called to see if I could recon but they said NO but to try again in 6 months. Next, I sent an email with the reason I thought I should be approved. Some of the reasons I put was the benefits of the card, my good standing relationsh[p with Penfed, I've lways been happy with their service, etc. Sunday night I get an email from Penfed saying I was approved for $10,000 SL with Interest rate 17.99%! I plan on using this card for travel only and love the perks it offers.
If you get denied for Penfed don't be afraid to recon by phone and/or email. It worked for me when an approval seemed so bleak!
