I just tried the Capital One pre quality tool I always get the message that I qualify for the Secured card. 80 days ago I went ahead and submitted the form for the secured and was approved with a $200 deposit. I decided not to go for it and just wait it out until I can get prequalified for an unsecured card. Well today I tried the prqualified tool again and it said I was prequalified for the Capital Platinum. I decided to go for it, but got the following message:

Darn, I was hoping for an instant approval. Now the waiting game!

Update: Just received an email from Capital One! I was approved!!!!! Very low limit, but I will gracefully take it! Just 80 days ago they were offering me a secured card with $200 deposit, and now approved for a $300 SL Unsecured Card. I am very happy that I was patient and didn't go for the secured card. I am extremely happy to be in the Capital One family. Now I will garden......again....

No need to wait. just give them a call. More than likely this is verification. just a few questions to make sure it is you. Also. when you say pre qualified. Did it say congratulations? if so you will be fine. This happned to me when i went for the venture card. Called them and in less than 30 secs i was done.
Yes it said Congratulations, and then whey I clicked on Apply it stated:
You're pre-qualified. Now, applying is fast and easy!
UGH, I called and they said that the application is still pending and it can take up to 15 business days before a decision could be made.
This is going to be the longest 2 weeks! Fingers crossed!

I had capital one before. I hade been late 4 months before I paid in full and then they closed the accounts as soon as I had made payments. Tried to get them opened and they wouldn't budge. This was 2 to 3 years ago. I am hoping to get in the door again. About 3 months ago I had applied for the secured card and was approved with $200 deposit but decided not to proceed since they never graduate. I opted to just wait until I can get approved for their unsecured card and here I am bitting my nails.
