Re: Red Card could this be an upgrade to MC?

Possibly so. This happened to me. I think the magic number seems to be when you cross over $5000 that seems to be when you get the upgrade.

at least it was for me. Sadly with my other cards I don't use the Red Card as much and as quickly as they raise limits they also do CLD also. Got a letter that if I don't use it in the next 2 billing cycles it will close.

This is almost definitely an upgrade to a MasterCard, but if you don't want to wait for the letter, you can email or call a CSR to be sure.

Usually when the credit limit hits $4000, it is a MasterCard upgrade!

So... Target card, what maybe 2+ years old...started with a $2,200.00 credit line, my wife uses it for everything since our target is a "super" one, so everything from groceries to furniture, I call it the "Sam Drucker" general store card. Average balance 1100.00 per month (it always killed my utilization) and I always payed in full.... have never seen a CLI, but today I get a email from wallet hub about my score going up...."see what changed" Target card up to a $7000.00 limit!!  Oh MC next??? 2022 may be looking up credit wise....LOL

I had my card for 6 years before graduating. But, interestingly, I received regular limit increases! It started at $300.. now its at $5000

Re: Red Card could this be an upgrade to MC? UPDATE

SO I was upgraded to the MasterCard....I posted in CC forum because I was hoping to get DP on an upgrade, but they moved it here, so I will give my DP's since after reading many posts they sometimes contradict each other....I got the letter of conversion today so that was cool, the rewards are not hideous, still 5% at target, then 2% gas and dining and 1% everything else. AND contrary to what some posts state you can cash in your rewards for a target gift card whenever you want (not once a year as some posts were stating.....COOL) It does not say what the minimum cash out is...maybe once I get the card.....the end of March is when they say the conversion happens....will see if any other info comes my way that I can share....stay FRESH my friends...

Re: Red Card could this be an upgrade to MC? UPDATE

I didn't realize that you could redeem rewards at any point. That's kind of cool, even with an anemic rewards program. It clearly doesn't make up for it, especially since you have to give up the 5% to use it (unless you use it for Rx copay that doesn't get 5% anyway), but it is something.
