Wanted the C1 VentureX as it fit my travel habits pretty well. I usually take at least 2 trips a year, and AirBnB was my go to for stays, and the travel credit seemed good for that. After seeing the data points, and hearing about the SUB cuts and benefits cuts, I gave up on it.
Saw a YT video about an elevated SUB, and then a Reddit post about a VentureX preapproval link. So being bored I hit it up. For the last 2 yrs my C1 preaproval results showed QS and Savor. Today I got the following image:
My first thought was its a trap. Tried the regular preapproval page and got all the regular Ventures. That as definitely different from previous attempts. Called CS and asked some questions: Can you have more than 2 personal cards? Got a cryptic "...you can." If I've had small limits on my other C1 cards am I eligible for the $10K+ VentureX? "...thats not a factor in the approval process." Asked some more questions, was given a different number (application department) to call to get more specific answers based on my profile.
A few hours later, after figuring I just has some HPs drop off, what's the harm. So I found a 90K link, applied and was approved.
Think I'm done for now. Will probably downgrade my Surpass when it renews. Next summer I'll PC my Bonvoy to a Ritz, then I'm set for the foreseeable future -- unless something new and too good to be true comes out. Is this the norm?

and I cant get preapproval, approval, CLI for **bleep** lol Im just envious, not hating. Congrats Im glad you got a card that fits you with a nice SL!

I know right! I'd all but given up on getting a CLI on my other 2 C1 cards. The only reason the Savor had any spend on it was it was set as a payment method on an accont I started using again.
I checked my email and had a pre-approval offer from C1 for the Walmart card from Thursday. Go figure :-/
Now I just have to make the SUB.

Congrats on the approval! While they gave you the highest interest rate (probably due to the prior lates), a $20k SL indicates they're still pretty comfortable with you. I had 2 other Cap 1 cards with relatively low with the min $10k limit).

Congrats on the approval! $20k is a great SL

Congrats on the approval
Congratulations on your approval, great starting limit and on getting the elevated welcome offer!

Congrants on the VX approval, although this DP truly adds to the mystery on what Captal One is looking for when approving applications for the VX.

Something wroth noting is the the regular CapOne Pre-approval only checks for eligibility for
1) QS for excellent credit,
2) SavorOne Rewards for excellent credit,
3) Venture
4) Venture One
5) Savor (w/ the AF)
6) Platinum
7) QS1 for fair credit
8) QS1 secured
9) Platinum secured
The Venture X is not mentioned. Here is the link to the Cap1 VX Pre-Approval page if anyone is looking--> https://www.capitalone.com/credit-cards/preapprove/venture-x/
