Seen CashBack Plus MasterCard

I got approved a few days ago for the Seen MasterCard. Since I haven't seen (pun not intended but funny) anything about it on the forum, I am posting my experience for others in case they get this solicitation in the mail.

Seen seems like such a silly name, kind of like Best Egg.

Anyway, I got a pre-qualified mail solicitation for it last week. Apparently, there are several forms of Seen with different terms. The one I got has no annual fee. (I would have thrown it out otherwise.) The credit limit offered was "up to $3,000", with a potential CLI after 5 months. The CashBack is 2%, earned on payments made rather than purchases. (This actually makes sense to me even if it isn't industry standard.) The APR is 35.99%. Not great but this is obviously meant for builders/rebuilders anyway. Late payment fee is $41.

The fine print clarifies the "up to $3,000" CL as $300 to $3,000. I got $500. However, with low income, a high DTI, and CK scores in the lower 600s, I won't complain.

The CashBack is in the form of statement credits automatically applied to your balance each month, similar to the OneMain BrightWay card. These credits don't count towards your minimum monthly payment. They proudly report to all three major credit bureaus.

While Seen may seem like a silly name, it makes sense when you consider the application process. They take a photo of the front and back of your ID and a real-time selfie to verify your identity. Thus you are "seen" by Seen.

On other forums, people have posted about Seen, and apparently I got one of the better versions. Some have annual fees and some have a weekly payment schedule rather than monthly. (Actually, a weekly payment might work well for someone who is paid weekly....)

Re: Seen CashBack Plus MasterCard

Seems like a better choice than fee harvester cards. Nice that it's unsecured. Should be good for building credit. It gets a lot of complaints about difficulty making payments, maybe operator error. I have the aven 3% card issued by the same bank, their app works fine so far.
