Back in November I received a pre-approved mail offer for an Active Cash from Wells Fargo. I had no prior relationship with Wells Fargo, but I applied and was approved for $6,000. On the heels of that success, I went through the pre-approval process at NFCU and was pre-approved for every card they had. I applied for the More Rewards (Amex) and was aproved for $14,300. Wow, that's my highest limit to date.
I attempted to get the AOD Signature Visa, but that didn't pan out, as I had recently acquired two new cards. I did however successfuly get into the credit union, so I feel that in another year or so, I'll try again if they are still offering the 3% card.
Skip ahead to January and I was reading here about the Affinity FCU Visa Signature, and the rotating categories that it offers (as well as the SUB). I couldn't help myself and I applied and was approved for $8,700. Still feeling the pain from the AOD denial, I applied for, and was approved for the USALLIANCE Visa Signature which is offering 3% cash back through the end of this year (unless that gets extended again). Starting line there is $8,800.
I really was going to garden for a while after all that, but I did open an account with Abound FCU just to see if I could get in as they offer a 5% Gas (as well as rotating categories) on a Visa Platinum. Again, I couldn't help myself. I applied, and was approved for $2,000. That's the lowest credit line I've got, but it's a start, and plenty to cover my gas bill (but who knows how much gas is going to cost).
So, that was a little long winded, but since last November, five new cards, nearly $40k in new credit, and I'm still not carrying a balance anywhere.
