Re: Should i pull the trigger...

Chase pre-quals are usually good to go. Of course anything could happen. Freedom is a very good card. Go for it.

Congrats! Freedom is a good card. I've had mine for over 8 years now.

Chances of an initial CLI are better if you do call in than if you don't... Smiley Happy

If you have a good idea of what you want to spend on the card, have that ready when you call. It's cool that they acknowledge that a $500 card isn't useful to everyone (wish Bank of America could figure that out). But be practical with your request... if they start you with $500 they might not be ready to bump that to five figures yet.

It looks like you have the highest interest rate, but you also have a 15-cycle 0% offer. So don't worry about that for a year or so.

Re: Should i pull the trigger...

Grats and if your try to recon the limit, it'll be an additional HP, just a heads up. As far as actually getting a higher limit, in all honesty, the $500 SL signifies you were borderline approved, IMO. I would just sit back and work with that limit for a little while and try for an increase after 6 months+.

Good point.

It would still be worth calling in and asking, but ask if they need another credit pull before you go forward.

If they hadn't called out the option in the approval message, I'd definitely say not to ask... but I'd at least see if they're teasing or if they'll seriously reconsider.

You might find out why they went with a tiny limit, and get help figuring out how to fix up your credit and earn a future increase (and maybe even APR reduction).

Good luck, OP... please let us know how it goes.
