I received a pre-approval offer in the mail for a rewards credit card with my credit union. I didn't pay it any mind and just shredding it like the others. Fast forward, last week the credit union called me to make the same offer, I was skeptical but I listened anyway. She said, you have been approved for 3 of credit cards, explained the benefits of each and asked which one I would be interested in. I told her the Rewards Credit but if they were going to do a hard inquiry then I am not interested. She responded, we have already reviewed your credit file via soft inquiry and you meet the qualifications, no hard pull will be done unless you want a higher CL. The CL of $10k was offered which is the highest CL I would have at this point. I couldn't believe it, 1.99% APR for first 12 months and then 12.99% after that and no HARD PULL whatesoever! Of course I accepted it. Win-win!
-No annual fee
-No cash advance fee
-No balance transfer fees
-No foreign transaction fees
PLUS:
Earn cash back on every purchase: 3% on gas,
2% on groceries and restaurant purchases,
and 1% on everything else
Seriously I couldn't believe it because just 3 years ago I was denied a auto loan with the very same credit union but I kept working on my credit. I paid off a $1,500 personal loan with the credit union a year later. Before I hung up the phone she said, "Also, you have been pre-approved for a new auto loan up to $40k @ 2.59%. I was SHOCKED! It goes to show you that hard work pays off. 3 years ago my FICO scores were in the mid 500s and today they are in 700s. I am hoping to purchase my first home in 12-15 months. I was advised to wait until the sellers market abates, hopefully I will only have to renew my lease just this one more time. I will keep you posted!
That no cash advance fee is amazing...heck yeah, win win! Congrats!
That sounds like a pretty awesome card really. Congrats!
