Sportsman's Guide Approval - Risky Overstock CLI Request?

I opened an Overstock card back in April via the shopping cart trick. I did a CLI request right off the bat when it arrived in the mail and was approved ($2550). I did another CLI on July 1st and was approved again ($3350).

I've been getting the shopping cart trick pop ups at Sportsman's Guide for their Visa card over the past few months, and while I wanted to apply for it (especially since its a Visa) I decided to wait until at least September to make sure I'm spreading these apps out a bit and dont cause alarm. I was just approved for that Visa via the shopping cart trick, but did recieve a hard inquiry on Equifax.

I have not recieved the card yet, but it shows up as a payment option on checkout on Sportsmansguide.com

Since its been another 61+ days since the last Overstock CLI, I'm wondering if its risky or O-K to click the credit limit increase button on the Overstock card?

Thanks

Re: Sportsman's Guide Approval - Dangerous Overstock CLI Request?

Congrats on the approval!! 👏🏻

While not as AA happy as Synch, Comenity certainly has had AA posts. So YMMV!!

I personally wouldn't be doing anything to put spotlight on accounts, but that's me. You have to decide if potential closure is worth a few extra$$.

Its a different time. Synch and Comenity are more sensitive to the current situation.

Re: Sportsman's Guide Approval - Risky Overstock CLI Request?

I was getting regular CLI with Overstock up until recently.  The last one was denied so they may be getting a bit skittish. I've only received 2 increases on the SPG card in 3 years and for what ever reason they don't like giving them on this one

If those are your only 2 Comenity cards, there's nothing to worry about.  CLIs are approved or denied by computer.  As long as you don't open a bunch of Comenity cards at once (like 5-6 - especially via SCT), you should be fine.  Comenity shut me down after I got 6 cards from them in 3 months.  I gave Comenity a break, then reopened a couple cards - but spaced out by about 3 months or so.  No problems since (going on 4 years), and I've mashed the luv button many times.

I do have a J. Crew card with them that I've had for many years...it used to be up to $6500 credit limit after many CLI's, but they cut it down to $1700 about 4 years ago when I hit a rough patch. I never bothered to try to raise it back up since then as I've very rarely used it.

Re: Sportsman's Guide Approval - Risky Overstock CLI Request?

Congrats.  What was your EQ score?

My DW and I just finally received CLI's on two very small Comenity accounts, my Good Sam store card was 250, now $750 and her VS which was $500 and is now $1,000.  In our case, I figured that I would just keep pounding those buttons and they either close them or finally submit....  they finally submitted.

Re: Sportsman's Guide Approval - Risky Overstock CLI Request?

@shane82388 ,

Congratulations.  The SCT for the store only card should be a SP.  The Visa version as you noted, will result as a HP.
