Unexpected Fidelity Card approval with solid CL!

Applied 12/5. Got the 7 day waiting message. Called the following monday to ask and they said I was denied, but they couldn't give a reason and I had to wait for the letter. Was fairly disappointed but not too surprised given some credit factors. Got the letter yesterday and it said I was denied because they couldn't verify identity. Called in again yesterday and verified my identity, was kind of weird because they didn't really ask me anything that wasn't already on the application as far as I could tell.

A few hours later I got an approval email! Approved for a $5000 credit limit which is really good for me, my next highest is $3000.

in FL, they pulled my EQ (which is my best atm) 730 score. 1/6 2/12 3/24. Had an inquiry with a different lender I did on the same day on the same report, not sure if it showed up. One of my cards was 90% maxed out and I couldn't pay it off for a certain reason (not related to lack of funds) which hurt my score, and my overall profile is still a bit young/thin (less than 2 years history, 3 other cards reporting) so I really didn't expect to get approved, and I expected a way lower CL if I did. Extremely happy, now Fidelity really is a one stop shop for me.

Congrats on the approval. It's a great card. I remember my approval email where it said my limit was $0 which I thought was so strange.

Found the same strangeness when I got my notice of approval. Seems they really don't pay much attention to this part of their operation.

There have been other notices I receive that strike me as "what" ... but everything flows so ___?

Good data points. Thanks and congrats. This will be my next app in a few months. I really like Fidelity. Will be using them for physical check writing going forward and I just moved my HSA to them. Rewards Visa is next...just a few more months.
