So I was purchasing some tickets to Hawaii on United and an offer of 30k points, first year fee waived and $50 statement credit for Chase United Explorer card popped up. I know that many got a 50k offer, but I only ever get 30k. Since all future flights will be with our young son (which means the days of no checked luggage are over) and the fee is waived for a year, I thought it was worth the inquiry hit. Figured I could always recon if denied. Imagine my surprise when I got "congratulations, your new card has been approved with a limit of 12000". This is my biggest Chase limit and the first card approved without recon. I have previously reconned the Southwest card (5k limit) and CSP (5k limit, bumped to 9.5k by closing SW card) after instant denials.
So just wanted to say thanks for all the info on this forum. I doubt that such an approval would have been possible without the history I've built with Chase on reconned cards and I didn't even know what recon was before I came here.
Oh, and I have no idea what my experian score is (which I assume they pulled), but my best guess is high 600s. Badness includes 3 chargeoffs from late 2006, one paid collection for one of the chargeoffs and a paid student loan that was in collections (DOFD 9/06). Income is somewhat of 100k, I have the cards in my signature. High limit is 13k on USAA, low is 3k on hilton amex. All others between 5-10k.
Congrats. Do you mind sharing your CL?
if you have a mileage plus explorer acct the bonous i got was 50k miles for $1k spend...checkin on that because they matched it for me

he said he got $12k
Congrats! I have been pricing an international ticket that I need to buy in a couple of weeks, and keep seeing that offer myself. 30,000 bonus miles sounds fantastic, btu I just got a CSP and don't want to press my luck right now. I'll probably pick it up for the bonus miles in the fall when I am traveling internationally again.
Congrats
I applied for both the Chase Sapphire Preferred and United Explorer Visa Signature card (50,000 bouns mile offer) within 30 days of each other. Received instant approval for the CSP. Applied about two weeks later for the United Explorer and was approved (not instant approval. Chase verified my identity, then approved)
