Update: Just now received email from US Bank my application is approved and card should arrive in mail in the next 5-7 business days. Can not wait start earning 4% Cash back on Dining. Still waiting to hear back about my US Bank Cash+ Secured Card Application Status. Hopefully I should hear some thing in the next few days about that.
I am tired of looking into scores, inquiries and new accounts and decided I wanted to get a card that I want and gives me benefits now. I applied for US Bank Alt Go Secured Card with $5k cl and they debited my Bank account. I guess if there are no issues in the next 6 days they will send the card in the next couple of weeks. I love to get 4% on dining out and 2% on Groceries using that. I have lot of money in secured cards and I decided might as well reshuffle some of my secured cards close the ones that does not give me rewards and put that deposit for use with secured cards that do give rewards. It is a strange world. It is my money and I am not going to sit and wait.
Congrats on the new US Bank Approval!

I was debating if I should put another $5k towards the deposit and get a Cash+ Card. I have to read little bit more about Cash+ card and its usefulness. Right now I have $5k in OpenSky. That is a good card and served it purpuse and probably it should make room to another card that offers rewards. I am not sure if Cash+ is the right card and I am not sure I am going to spend $2k every 3 months in the categories they are asking to spend to get the 5% rewards.
Be cautious with the US Secured Cards. What ever the limit you want apply for it upfront. Once they graduate or upgraded they will retain the same limits. I did not know and I am stuck with a Harley card with $3k limit and US Bank Platinum card with $500 limit. I asked for CLI and I did not get it. Now they are unsecure I can not add more deposit to get higher limit and they do not increase the limit. I guess it is what it is with US Bank.
Congratulations on your Altitude Go approval!
That's a bummer on being stuck with the lower limit. I am planning on doing 5k for each that way when I get them unsecured it's a bit more workable.
As part of my rebuild I decided I wanted to stick with lenders or cards that I would actually use even after it is done. I started with Navy and Amex Optima and am I/P switching my banking from Wells Fargo to US Bank. Seemed like fate that they started offering the GO and Cash+ in secured form as they fit pretty decently with my spend. Maybe if my rebuild is as successful as I hope I might be able to get the Altitude Reserve in a year once these age.
Congratulations on your approval!!
