Are you active military to get the AF waived on the Amex cards? If you're paying the annual fee on the Gold and Platinum, and can't hit the minimum spend for a SUB, then you're essentially pre-paying for those credits and not actually gaining anything.
Yes, I'm active duty and get waived AFs on my Chase and AMEX cards. The Venture X is the only card I have without a waived AF
ah, I remember this, congrats again

I didn't know Cap1 kept the fee for service members. Enjoy the Amex/Chase benefits and thanks for your service!

The Gold and Platinum sans SUBs make much more sense now. Without the AF you start enjoying massive benefits immediately, even if your spend can't cover the SUB.
Congrats again, and enjoy!
Very nice. Congrats on your VX approval. Enjoy the card.
