Long time lurker here, thought this was worth making an account for to Post. So about 10 years ago I was in my 20s and made a lot of bad decisions stopped paying all credit cards and a few personal loans I had taken out.
Three or so years ago started rebuilding secured card to regular cards, only with companies I did not previously burn. Ollo-$3k Citizens -$2.2k Wells Fargo $3500. Cap1 - $6k
Recently got preapproved mail from Chase. I previously burned them for $~4k but did not file chp7, it just naturally fell off my report about 3 years ago.
I applied using the invite code was denied. Called the number and the lady looked over my app,
said I was denied because a previous card never paid, but she still approved my app for $500.
Anyone else have a similar experience? If so, did they progressively do auto CLI's?
I'm glad chase is giving me another shot, but the low limit has left me with mixed feelings. Im hoping it's a first step to a normal relationship with chase.

is there still any negative information remaining on your reports?
congrats on the approval, ask for CLIs through the website/over the phone every 6 months, they're SP now
No negative info on report now, which is why I think the lady doing the review on the phone over rode the computer decision.
The limit is just enough to get the minimum spend to get the $200 bonus, so that's cool to start.
So if anyone has a old chargeoff with Chase, don't write them off, there's a chance they will take you back like me.
Congratulations on your Chase approval and your current credit journey!
I'm glad it still worked out for you and you got back in with Chase! Meanwhile, I have to garden for a while to get in with them.

Doesnt matter if you got in with Chase by an "inch or mile", you're at back in.
Any more DPs like ballpark score at the time of app and which Freedom card?
Congrats on your return to Chase
