WOAH Amex :)

Here's something interesting, so I had asked my fiancé to app for the Amex everyday card (I get $50 for referral lol), and surprisingly Amex gave her a starting CL of $10K!, I mean what???? The only other card she has is a freedom with a 2k limit -.- lol

Re: WOAH Amex :)

Congrats! Same thing happened to me back in November. In January I requested a CLI for $25k and was instantly approved as well. Go for it after 60 days!

Re: WOAH Amex :)

The increasing anecdotal evidence seems to indicate that Amex has loosened underwriting standards.

I would agree with this... They need new customers and I believe they are diversifying and playing a bit more risky than they use to be..

Re: WOAH Amex :)

You think income played a factor as well?, she makes well above 6figs at a top law firm in NYC, what's funny was that she had gotten a call from a Amex manager before she was approved to ask some verification questions, then the next day she got an email saying she was rushed approved.

Congrats

Even if she can ask for a CLI at activation or after X days, I will say that is better to wait when she has more cards. It will look odd that she has a 2k card and another at 25k.

How old is the Freedom? I think she can wait a few months after the Amex with 10k reports and she will not have problems to get a new card with Chase with a better limit. Then she can transfer some of that to the Freedom, maybe take it over 5k and ask for the Visa Signature version.

Well if the income is 'well above 6fgs' she has a nice oportunity to get great cards with great limits. But as I said, don't apply for too many cards at this point (only the 2k Freedom reporting), some other lenders look more at the reports. I guess Amex looked more at income.
