@Puppetmaster wrote:I started rebuilding credit just under four years ago, when I had $0 credit and bad scores. Over the last few days I've added several new approvals which have brought my total personal credit to $152,200 (with $132,200 reporting or soon to be reporting to bureaus). For the most part, the new approvals are at much lower interest rates than mosty of my previous approvals, and reducing interest rates was the primary motive for this wave. New approvals and CLIs are:
New $15,000 WaFd Bank Visa
New $7,000 BankAmericard MC
New $8,000 Citi Diamond Preferred MC
New $20,000 CareCredit
New $7,000 Bank Of America Business Advantage MC (not included in personal credit total)
CLI $4,000 Apple MC
CLI $1,500 Citi Costco Visa
CLI $3,000 Home Depot Card
CLI $1,500 Discover
CLI $200 (Yes, a whopping $200, can you believe it?) Capital One Spark (included in personal total because it reports to both personal and business bureaus)
In addition, Discover reduced my interest rate by 7%.
If you're facing or working on a credit rebuild, just know that all the little things you do in the early days, weeks and months will gradually snowball into bigger and faster progress along the way if you stay disciplined and motivated.
Congrats on your successful rebuild and app spree.

With Discover, I paid it off about a month ago. My income is wavy, so my balances rise between waves, and then I pay off balances when the waves come. In addition to Discover, I paid off some other balances at the same time. Once they all reported, so my utilization fell below 10% and my scores rose, I called Discover and asked for an interest rate reduction. They told me I could either get a 0% promotional rate for 12 (I think) months, or a reduction. I chose the reduction. I also requested a credit line increase on a different call, and received a $1,500 increase.
I asked other card issuers for interest rate reductions also, and none of them would budge. So I went on my lower interest rate application binge, which was very successful, and the higher rate cards will lose most or all of their action. I want to maintain relationships with most of the issuers, so I will probably use the higher interest cards some, without carrying balances, just to keep the relationships going. Bank of America wouldn't lower my rate on my existing card, but approved an additional new card at a lower rate.

Super great! I'm in the same boat. I went on a spree and now I'm cooling it. Interestingly, I had a couple of them say they needed to verify info first. We'll see what happens.
