Applied last week for CITI Simplicity, Ebates, Total Rewards Visa, Huntington, and Wells Fargo. Citi and Ebates flat out denials. Total Rewards Visa denied due to cold CRA. Huntington approved by don't know limit. That leaves Wells Fargo which I applied for on March 20, 2014. Having issues with this application. When I called on March 21, 2014 to check status, I was told that they needed a copy of my SSN. I faxed it in, but they couldn't read it. Called today to see status since I faxed another copy in this morning. CSR said underwriting noted the application that they couldn't read the new copy either. I asked if I could overnight a copy and was told yes. I got to thinking to ask if my application had actually been reviewed. The CSR said that underwriting reviewed the application on March 21, 2014 (the next day after I applied) and all they needed based on the notes was a copy of my SSN. She then said I can't tell you whether it will be approved or not. I didn't ask this but I guess it appeared that this is what I was asking. I was basically wanting to know if they had reviewed the credit file or just stopped at the SSN. Does anyone have any experience with Wells Fargo in this area? Does it sound like they just reviewed the personal information (i.e. name, address, SSN, etc...) and stopped at SSN or reviewed everything and determined they need to verify SSN before making a decision?
I'm not asking whether or not I was approved because no one knows but Wells Fargo, but I am requesting if anyone has had any similar experiences.

Fingers crossed!
Thank you. I'm hoping that the two app's, if approved, will put me at/over the six figures mark. I only need another $7,100 to go. So close, yet so far.
hope you get approved 12! do you have strong banking relationship with WF? they seem to consider that alot when it comes to handing out limits on their cards. Here is to a nice starting limit!!!!...:-)

Thanks. I just opened up an account with Wells Fargo. I got the idea from Fidelity which I forgot to include in my approval data from last week. I opened up a Fidelity account and immediately applied for their Amex card and got approved. I also was hoping that my short Amex history would help with Wells Fargo since the two companie have similar foundings. May be way off base on this last statement.

Thanks. You'll are so very helpful and supportive!
Callled Wells Fargo today and we're still playing tag with my social security card. Anyways, I asked if underwriting had actually reviewed my application and I was told yes and that underwriter was just waiting on social security card to verify social security number listed on credit report. This really sounds like an approval but I'm trying not to get excited as this is the last thing I have out there. It's time to go in the garden, seriously!

If you have an account with WF just go to the branch manager for help. WF is funny Ron1 was recently denied by WF for one reason, not having any other relationship with them. Good luck on the app ![]()

Thanks. Unfortunately, the nearest branch is 60 miles away according to Wells Fargo. I opened up a checking account with them right before I applied for the card. I just received my Wells Fargo welcome packet in the mail today. Geez, I thought I just purchased a car again. There was so much information and booklets in that packet ![]()
