Its manditory reading on myFICO boards
That's why I have only one comenity card.
I know synchrony sometimes does this as well, I have 4 of them and am seriously considering closing 2.
Just posting an update for those that wanted to know..
All 5 comenity cards still open ![]()

My question is more with regards to the perceived risk that Comenity may determine, although I’m assuming they know what they are doing when they approve you for a card..
That is a very bad assumption. One thing you do not want to do at this point is to apply for any Visa or Mastercard cards issued by Comenity as that will put you at high risk of having all of your Comenity cards closed.
Update: CLI approved on all cards and all still open. ![]()
Comenity closed my IKEA Visa within 30 days of issue. They left my overstock store account alone BUT won't approve any CLIs. A popup says "you are not eligible" before I even get to the screen where I would ask for a CLI. I have paid down the overstock to $800 on a $7300 limit so even if they balance-chase me I can just pay it off and walk away from the account, and Comenity. I get it, "it's just business" like they say in old mob films, but it surely doesn't make me want to be their customer.
I've never had any problem with a Comenity card get shut down, it's the Synchrony cards that I've had problems with in the past when it comes to decreased limits or getting shut down. I had a Comenity card that lied dormant for 8 years between uses and it didn't get shut down.
