Re: Went crazy with Comenity

Thankfully you are aware of what Comenity is capable of doing based on perceived risk and previous anectodal evidence.

If they end up shutting down any (or all) accounts then lesson learned. No one on these forums can predict with absolute certainty what Comenity may do in your situation whether you use one now or a couple down the road, refrain for a few months, or do a rain dance or sing upside down.

That being said, if you are spared any AA, consider yourself fortunate, but be aware that as you may have read on these forums, they constantly SP your CRs and other outside sources. So, if something spooks them, then they can still close them.

Re: Went crazy with Comenity

That's why I have only one comenity card.

I know synchrony sometimes does this as well, I have 4 of them and am seriously considering closing 2.

Re: Went crazy with Comenity

Thanks for all the feedback.

So far all are still open with full availability of the credit lines.

If they take AA i’ll update the thread so you guys have data points.

I’m not too concerned anymore. Either they grow with me or they don’t. At the end of the day, any creditor can take AA for any reason no matter who it is.

My question is more with regards to the perceived risk that Comenity may determine, although I’m assuming they know what they are doing when they approve you for a card..

That is a very bad assumption.   One thing you do not want to do at this point is to apply for any Visa or Mastercard cards issued by Comenity as that will put you at high risk of having all of your Comenity cards closed.

Re: Went crazy with Comenity

Comenity closed my IKEA Visa within 30 days of issue.  They left my overstock store account alone BUT won't approve any CLIs.  A popup says "you are not eligible" before I even get to the screen where I would ask for a CLI.  I have paid down the overstock to $800 on a $7300 limit so even if they balance-chase me I can just pay it off and walk away from the account, and Comenity.  I get it, "it's just business" like they say in old mob films, but it surely doesn't make me want to be their customer.

Re: Went crazy with Comenity

I've never had any problem with a Comenity card get shut down, it's the Synchrony cards that I've had problems with in the past when it comes to decreased limits or getting shut down.  I had a Comenity card that lied dormant for 8 years between uses and it didn't get shut down.

Re: Went crazy with Comenity

@OP, congratulaions on the cards and CLIs. To your question, yes, Comenity has been known to shut down accts when people open multiple accts in a relatively short period of time. Odds increase of adverse actions (AA) if you get the store brand cards AND Comenity visas. Be careful and let them mature.
