amex credit limit

does anyone have any experience with amex on calling a reconsideration line to increase credit limit on new account?.. i applied for an was approved for the amex blue preferred card today, for the reason of balance transfers, but they only gave me a 2000 dollar credit limit, which won't really help me. I did an online chat with a rep, and got a number to call for the new accounts department, and was told that they would need to review this. Was wondering if anyone had any luck with actually getting amex to increase initial credit limit.

I have never called them for this but from what I read here on the forums, AMEX doesn't really do recons. However, at the 61 day mark, perhaps you can get the 3x CLI.
Years ago, when I got my AMEX, I started with $2k, then it got an auto CLI to $6k (I didn't know to ask and I think it was beyond the 61 day mark).

i also found nothing anywhere about amex increasing an initial credit limit,, i think i'll forget about calling, and just wait the 60 days, .. and work on increasing it over time instead... just got a citi TY preferred card with a 9500 limit, called and they increased it to 16,000, so the 2000 limit from amex was just dissappointing to say the least. Still happy to have an amex though, have 1 Chase card, 1 citi card, and 1 amex.
