Re: is it time to apply for unsecured card?

The shopping cart trick is a comenity card thing - you add items to the cart and start to go through the first part of the checkout process and if you are pre approved a pop up will come up telling you so. There's a lot of info detailing it here on the forums but I'm mobile so trying to search for and post a link is not easy.

Re: is it time to apply for unsecured card?

I wouldn't do shopping cart trick, your too close to better cards.

Call the CRA (TU example) and ask for an early exclusion. This is something they regularly do, not a trick not a secret. Just a policy of theirs. EX I think is a bit harder but your less than a year out!

How old is the repo? Does that currently report monthly?

Is there an entry for original creditor and Collection agency for the bad accounts? If so make sure that you request early exclusions for both!

After the accounts stop updating monthly even with other derogatory marks your scores will rise. I would then try for a Barclaycard, rewards, when you hit say 630-650.

If you are patient now, by end of the year when only the repo is listed (if that's not due to fall off?) you will be in better position to get good cards either by auto approval or recon, definitely recon. Keep those valuable HPs low they will help you later aswell as the AAoA.

Re: is it time to apply for unsecured card?

Thank you The Gardner! I'll call the CRA right away.

How old is the repo? Does that currently report monthly?

It was not a repo actually. It was alomost 6 years got charged off as I stopped paying and about 2 years later I paid them in full. I see the last status date of 08/14 for TU and no update from Eq & Ex recently. This auto loan is due to fall of in 4/16.

Is there an entry for original creditor and Collection agency for the bad accounts?

Yes, BoA has both OC and CA entries in the CR and looks this CA is still reporting to all 3 CRBs monthly. chase don't have any CA listed and haven't updated status for at least 5 years now.

When these bad accounts start fall off, would my AAoA start shrinking as well?

Re: is it time to apply for unsecured card?

I just noticed that the CA for BoA CC is still reporting to TU where as I don't see an entry for OC in my report (Ex and Eq are different - they got both OC and CA entries). can they still report? Is that legal?

BTW I just realized my AAoA is 8 years in Ex and Eq. not 5 years as previously stated.Smiley Happy

Re: is it time to apply for unsecured card?

Yes, CA can continue to report even with the absence of the OC on your reports.

AAoA will drop a little. Say one 7yr old baddie drops off that's 84 months of history. Now count how many accounts you have reporting, open and closed. Divide 84 by number of accounts, we'll say 21 for this.. you will lose 4 months AAoA.

Good news is TU is the easiest for early exclusions. So your TU file will take a huge jump with that account deleted. The account is the only one reporting monthly so it is hurting you an awful lot. Mind you, your reports won't be cleaned yet so temper the expectation a bit but I think you will be mid 600s if they remove the BofA collection. You may have a couple months until chase is removed.

Submit BofA and the CA to all CB for early exclusions. Report back new score and you may be ready for a Barclaycard Rewards. Not great but it is a major and with a great company.

8yrs is even better! Keep it up!

AAoA for Fico purposes only counts open/closed OC accounts, CAs and PRs are excluded.

Re: is it time to apply for unsecured card?

I tried calling TU twice requesting for the early exclusion of CA (it is due to fall off in 07/2015) from my CR. But they have been saying that all they can do is enter a dispute with them. Not sure if disputing the account is worth at this time. I am so close to getting this fall off. Any inputs?

Re: is it time to apply for unsecured card?

3 days ago credit karma reported that the CA was dropped off my Eq report. The BoA account and CA that was reporting every month both dropped from my CR. I called them mutiple times for EE with no luck but they suddenly decided to remove them. They are due to fall off in 8/15. Guess what I see a 116 points jump of FAKO score. Now FAKO scores sits at 706!!! Also, I brought down the UTI on my only CC down to 2%. The only TLs listed in Eq now are Wells secured, Auto loan charged off and paid and BB/Cap 1 closed in good standing in the past.
