My friend was approved for an $18,000 dollar car loan at 2.5% today. He has a Sears citi credit card for $1000 for 1 year and a half. He also just got before Christmas a discover it for $2000. Discover says his fico is 677. His car loan papers also say that he is in the 670 range. The questions I had was: 1) should he try for one more card so all his inquiries age around the same time? 2) which card would be good for him? He isn't really interested in a travel card so it would most likely be a cash rewards card. He is 24 and wants to make his profolio strong in order to apply for a mortgage later on and get the best rate possible. Any help with these questions or card suggestions would be greatly appreciated. He is trying to minimize inquiries so best approvals would help.
Thank you in advance.

Chase Freedom, it has the 5% rotating categories like the Discover It. All around every day cash back card is the Cap-1 QS at 1.5%, there is the Fidelity Amex from FIA that provides 2% back if its redeemed into an approved Fidelity account, this one is going to be the hardest to get IMO with the profile presented here.
That may be their EQ score. If the reports all look the same definitely take a look at some Chase products.
Thanks for the replies........I was thinking amex everyday to get him in early.......his car loan is thru chase which is Subaru financing so he probably has a good shot at the freedom....the only reason he got such a great deal for the car is because he works for Subaru...
