Just got the 2012 Chase Freedom 5% categories in an email!

Wow, that's a great schedule.  I hope Discover's categories overlap with them again for 2012, since I don't qualify for a Freedom yet.

They are going to steal a good bit of swipes away from amex with me with amazon, gas, and best buy.

The one thing I dont understand is Amazon, Khols, etc is a category or a store? Also is walmart considered a grocery, did anyone ever find that out

Walmart is considered "merchandise."  However, if your Walmart has gas pumps, it will be coded as "gasoline" when you make your purchase.

The gas pumps here atleast in Texas are under the Murphy USA name so it really does not show as walmart at all........

Whether a store is coded as grocery varies with each store. And even if it's coded as grocery, the CCC can flag the purchase and refuse to give cashback.
